The Burning Desert: A workshop on Drought Recovery

NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) is working with NIDIS to lead a workshop on the NCEI drought amelioration web tool. 

Objectives of the workshop

  • Evaluate the NCEI drought amelioration web page, review other drought recovery tools, and develop recommendations for improvements to the NCEI drought amelioration web page
  • Discuss the impacts of drought, including human health and wildfires
  • Evaluate whether existing tools/products sufficiently capture drought amelioration

Outcomes of the workshop

  • More accurate, timely, and regionally-relevant content that facilitates the use of drought amelioration tools
  • Better-informed decision-making and resource allocation using drought amelioration tools
  • Improved products and services fit to user requirements

Invitees to the workshop include climate experts and community members, including political leaders, media, public health officials, and writers.
