Southern Plains Drought Outlook and Assessment Forum, Spring 2013 – Goodwell, OK

The National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), NOAA and Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) presented a regional Drought Outlook and Assessment Forum on March 7 in Goodwell, Oklahoma. The Forum, hosted by the Oklahoma Panhandle Research and Extension Center (OPREC), is the fifth in a series since the drought became firmly established in 2011. The morning session focused on the evolution and outlook of the drought, including presentations from those involved in monitoring, assessing and predicting our climate. The afternoon session featured panel discussions on issues of concern and management practices relative to the multi-state region. The panels featured researchers, managers, extension, and producers from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Colorado.
