NASA DEVELOP Upper Missouri River Basin: Composite Moisture Index

Project Timeline
January 2021 - April 2021
Project Status
Completed

The NASA DEVELOP team seeks to generate a Composite Moisture Index (CMI) for the Upper Missouri River Basin. This composite metric will account for various aspects of moisture abundance across the basin and will be used for dissemination of conditions to practitioners and managers. The objective of the CMI is to provide a holistic estimation of moisture state using many sources of information. This metric will be based on various NASA Earth Observing System datasets, on the ground indicators such as streamflow and soil moisture, and various modeled and observed measures of snowpack.
