The Southeast Climate monthly webinar series provides the Southeast region with timely information on current and developing climate conditions such as drought, floods, and tropical storms, as well as climatic events like El Niño and La Niña.
With the rapid development of drought likely across the Southern Plains, and beyond, this webinar will look at current conditions and the climate outlooks through winter.
In August 2024, NIDIS announced up to $4 million in funding for 8 two-year projects as part of the FY25 NIDIS Coping with Drought: Understanding and Assessing Drought in a Changing Climate competition. This informational webinar will summarize at a high level the feedback on the Letters of Intent (LOIs) received and will provide another opportunity for interested parties to ask questions about the competition.

Given the broad interest and need to better understand and plan for ecological drought in the Southeast, the USGS Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and NOAA’s National Integrated Drought Information System will convene a 3-day workshop addressing drought and low-flow in the Southeast. This workshop, "Drought and Aquatic Ecosystems in the Southeast: Informing drought response and ecological resilience to future low-flow events," will be held on January 7 -9, 2025, in Raleigh North Carolina.
