2022 Pacific Northwest Drought and Human Health Workshop Summary
On October 19–20, 2022, the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center co-led the Pacific Northwest Drought and Human Health Workshop in Portland, Oregon. The workshop was intended to identify gaps and needs, opportunities for collaboration, and ways to integrate the health sector and existing drought activities.
To provide participants and others with a better understanding of the effects of regional drought on human health, encourage collaboration, and inform strategies for minimizing the negative effects of drought on human health, this summary highlights the major points raised during presentations and panel discussions at the workshop. Additionally, three speakers capitalized on the invitation to include an extended abstract of their presentation in this summary.
