Advancing Sustainability of U.S.-Mexico Transboundary Drylands Elizabeth Weight, CIRES/NIDIS Regional Drought Information Systems Coordinator, represented NIDIS and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) in the May 2018 workshop “Advancing Sustainability of U.S.-Mexico Transboundary Drylands”. The workshop was organized by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in collaboration with Las Academias Mexicanas de Ciencias, Ingeniria, y la Academia Nacional de Medicin. The U.S. and Mexican Academies recently issued the workshop proceedings in Advancing Sustainability of U.S.-Mexico Transboundary Drylands: Proceedings of a Workshop (2018). Ms. Weight’s contribution to the workshop, synthesized in the proceedings, focused on drought early warning systems as a potential innovative bi-national research collaboration and management solution for U.S.-Mexico transboundary drylands areas.
