Improving Drought Services in Hawai‘i and the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands
Event Description
For more than five years, NIDIS’s partnerships in Hawai‘i and the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands (U.S. API) have laid the groundwork for greater drought early warning capacity in the region.
The U.S. API includes three U.S. territories—American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, three independent countries—the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau, and the Pacific Remote Islands.
With the Pacific Drought Knowledge Exchange (PDKE), NIDIS has contributed to collaborative initiatives bringing researchers together with local managers, farmers, ranchers, and cultural practitioners to co-produce actionable drought information.
This webinar will highlight several collaborative efforts and tools between NIDIS and PDKE to improve drought planning and preparedness across Hawai‘i and the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands.
