When drought hits, knowing which drought indicators are most relevant for specific regions and seasons can simplify the drought monitoring process. This webinar also will share key takeaways from a NIDIS-funded, NASA-led research project analyzing drought indicator relevance by region and season with a focus on the indicators that are most relevant for the Southern Plains.

NOAA's National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) is partnering with the University of Montana, Montana Climate Office to host a Missouri River Basin Drought Early Warning System (DEWS) Partners Meeting on September 15-16, 2026. This meeting will be preceded by the Tribal Pre-Conference Workshop, “Building a Tribal Community of Practice around Drought in the Missouri River Basin,” the evening of Monday, September 14, 2026.
