Utilization of High-Resolution Drought Monitoring Products

Project Status
Ongoing

With funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the project team is working to improve the radar-based Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and SPI blends that they developed and that are presently being produced by the North Carolina Climate Office. The project's goals are to reduce long-term biases and to test the utility of these bias-corrected precipitation amounts for ingestion into land surface models.
