Real-Time Spatial Estimates of Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) Reports

Associated Agencies

University of Colorado Boulder Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory

An experimental research product provided by the University of Colorado Boulder and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory that provides near-real-time estimates of snow-water equivalent (SWE) at a spatial resolution of 500 m for the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California and the Intermountain West region (Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming) from mid-winter through the melt season. These reports are released within a week of the date of satellite image data acquisition, and they are distributed to water managers and forecasters.
