Document Description

Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Southeast and Caribbean Region for December 2025–February 2026. Dated March 2026.

Temperatures were below average across the northern half of the region, with some parts of eastern Virginia and the Carolinas running up to 4 °F below average for the season. Temperatures were also below average across much of Florida, where many locations recorded long streaks of subfreezing temperatures. In contrast, temperatures were above average across Alabama, Georgia, and parts of the northern Gulf Coast. Winter was very dry across the Southeast, with many locations running 3 to 6 inches below average.

NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program created these climate outlooks to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions. Each regional report contains easy-to-understand language, and anyone can access them through the Drought Portal.
