Event Date & Time
In conjunction with the 2019 Midwest DEWS Regional Partner Meeting, the Midwest Drought and Public Health Workshop took place on November 20-21, 2019. The two meetings joined forces for a joint afternoon session on Wednesday, November 20. NIDIS co-hosted this workshop with the Minnesota Department of Health and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Discussions at this workshop were tailored around regional drought-related human health impacts, and also helped identify gaps and needs, collaborative opportunities, and ways to integrate the health sector into the Midwest DEWS. The audience for the Drought and Human Health Workshop was state and local public health departments, as well as emergency managers. However, the attendees of the Midwest DEWS Regional Partners Meeting were welcome and encouraged to attend if they were interested in the Drought and Human Health Workshop - and vice versa.
