Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for Alaska and Northwestern Canada for June – August 2019; outlook for October – December 2019. Dated September 2019.
Most of Alaska, Yukon and north-western British Columbia (BC) were warmer than normal during this past summer, but Northwest Territories (NT) was cooler than normal. Temperatures over north-eastern BC were below normal. Precipitation totals this past summer were above normal over northwest BC, a large part of the NT, south-east Yukon, northern Alaska. Drier than normal conditions were experienced in Aleutian Islands, southern Alaska and central Yukon.
NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program and partners created these Climate Outlooks to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions.
