Document Description

Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Chesapeake Bay Region for September – November 2019. Dated December 2019.

Fall 2019 saw above-average temperatures compared to normal for the majority of the Chesapeake Bay watershed in September and October and below average temperatures for November.  This fall, the Chesapeake Bay watershed experienced less precipitation than historical averages. Hot, dry weather during the fall months led to moderate and severe drought in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, a small portion of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, and south central Pennsylvania.

NOAA’s Mid-Atlantic RISA Team (MARISA) created this outlook in partnership with NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions. Each regional report contains easy-to-understand language, and anyone can access them through the Drought Portal.
