Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook for the Mid-Atlantic Region for June–August 2026. Dated September 2026.

Average temperatures for the summer season were above normal (0-4 degrees) for most of the region. This was punctuated by a few heat waves, particularly over the July 4 holiday weekend. Precipitation varied across the watershed with some locations seeing above normal amounts of rainfall and some areas getting less than normal.

NOAA’s Mid-Atlantic CAP Team (MARISA) created this outlook in partnership with NOAA’s Regional Climate Services Program to inform the public about recent climate impacts within their respective regions. Each regional report contains easy-to-understand language, and anyone can access them through the U.S. Drought Portal.
