The Colorado River is a major source of water for the Southwest U.S.

Short-term drought in the Southwest has improved greatly in the last year, but a lackluster summer monsoon and extreme heat have degraded conditions in parts of the region.

This webinar looked at current and forecasted drought conditions for Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. Following the conditions update, Marina Skumanich with NOAA's National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) spoke about the National Coordinated Soil Moisture Monitoring Network.
