In April, the Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University, in partnership with the New York State Water Resources Institute and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, will host the New York Drought Summit. Discussions at this free event will focus on the current state of drought monitoring in New York and ways to enhance drought impact reporting and communication across the state. Both in-person and virtual attendance options are available.

Specific goals of the workshop include:

  • Increasing the awareness of state, regional, and federal drought-related tools and resources.
  • Identifying ways to enhance drought impact reporting in New York, particularly through public engagement and citizen science efforts.
  • Strengthening the drought monitoring community through collaboration and relationship building.
