Third Joint Workshop on Texas Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO)

The 2026 Texas Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO) Workshop builds on the successes from the 2019 and 2023 workshops, and will serve as a platform for stakeholders to voice needs and contribute perspectives that will shape FIRO investigations and adoption in the state of Texas. The two-day workshop will comprise five thematic sessions, covering topics including: water-related challenges and the evolving role of FIRO, FIRO initiatives at the national level and in the State of Texas, predictability of impactful hydrometeorological events pertaining to reservoir operations, research and development activities from NOAA and partners helping to close the forecast-action gap, and user needs at the regional level.
