Rolling hills with fall foliage in the Northeast U.S.

NOAA's National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), the Desert Research Institute (DRI), and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder (CIRES), in cooperation with the Northeast Region Climate Center (NRCC), are pleased to announce two upcoming webinars in September.

In the first webinar, researchers from DRI and CIRES will share project findings on drought indices and indicators that support the monitoring and management of different drought types in the northeast United States. In the second webinar, the team will share their Drought Monitoring Toolbox for the Northeast.

This first webinar will include the following research project highlights:

  • Drought Index Relationships to Crop Health — Shuang (Adam) Xia, Desert Research Institute
  • Understanding Snow Droughts in the Northeast — Dan McEvoy, Desert Research Institute, Western Regional Climate Center
  • Tracking Flash Droughts in the Northeast — Mike Hobbins, NOAA Physical Sciences Laboratory, Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES)
