Tribal Engagement Workshop Extreme Events and Drought Resiliency

More than 35 representatives of northeastern Kansas tribes together with federal, regional and academic groups met in Kansas City in November 2014 to better understand drought and climate impacts on tribal lands; build partnerships to facilitate water management, drought early warning, and responses to extreme events; identify resources and points of contact for planning, natural resources, and environmental offices; and engage and leverage tribal colleges and universities. Participants included the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas, the Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and the Iowa Tribe of Kansas.
