In July 2023, the American Association of State Climatologists (AASC) and the National Coordinated Soil Moisture Monitoring Network (NCSMMN) held a joint networking event in Davenport, Iowa: The Soil Moisture Network Operators Workshop and the AASC Mesonet Community Meeting.

The workshop included a morning in-class discussion and an afternoon field trip to Muscatine Island Research and Demonstration Farm for more hands-on activities.
